Cake

Cake at the sewing retreat devon

Cake is also a very important part of the weekend (!!). The wonderful Lisa from Boho Cakes will be bringing us a delicious treat for Sunday afternoon tea..all served on beautiful vintage china. Find a squishy sofa in the sitting room in front of the fire and be spoilt!

Host

The weekends will be hosted by me...Yvonne Temple and my mum...Rosemary Temple who will keep us supplied with delicious food all weekend long!!

My passion has always been to sew...since the age of seven when my mum taught me how to make dresses for my dolls on her old Singer sewing machine there has been no stopping me. I love to teach, inspire, create and to see others become infused with that same passion.

What to expect

Friday:

Arrive any time from 4pm and receive a warm welcome, a cup of tea and some cake. This is a great time to get to know your fellow retreatees, make yourself at home, settle into your room, bag your space in the sewing room and ......breathe.....!

At 6pm we have a 'Welcome to the retreat" glass of bubbly and some canapes in the sitting room in front of the roaring log fire..this is just the start! We then gather in the dining room for a delicious home cooked supper. What happens next is up to you. You can head for a squishy sofa in the sitting room in front of the fire, have a dip in the hot tub, start sewing or just retire to bed.

Saturday:

Help yourself to a morning cuppa, lie in or head out for an early morning walk by the river. A yummy breakfast of home made bread and jam, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, fruit salad awaits you from 8.30am. And then it's time to...sew...or crochet or craft! We will talk through with you what you want to achieve this weekend and where you feel you need some help....if at all...

The morning is punctuated with tea/coffee and cake and then more delicious homemade food at lunchtime!

In the afternoon there is often the opportunity to have a go at something different...in the past we have tried knicker making, rope bowls, freemotion embroidery, lampshade making etc....

You are welcome to stay in the sewing room for as long as you like.

Dinner is served at 7.30...a 3 course meal...and then it's hot tub, sofa, sewing or bed time!

Sunday:

After breakfast it's back to the sewing room to carry on with your projects, chatter and have fun! The days just seem to speed by.

On Sunday afternoon we like to stop for afternoon tea in the sitting room. Time to catch up with everyone, have a cuppa and delicious cake....and then back to frantic sewing to complete those projects that you were hoping to finish!

Our evening meal on Sunday is always rather special...friendships have been forged, memories made, lots of laughter shared and it's wonderful to celebrate that on our last evening together.

Monday:

A somewhat sadder morning as we gather our things and say goodbye to everyone. For those who have the whole day to spare there is the opportunity to pop into Dartmouth and have a little visit to Hip Hip Hooray and stock up and your depleted fabric stash (do you need any excuse?) or other crafty supplies!

Don't be too sad...there will always be another retreat.....!

See you soon xxx
